You know your loyal customers best, and can choose the most appropriate way to reward them. But here are a few loyalty reward ideas to get you started:
1.Give a discount on their next order when customers redeem a certain number of points. The discount may be a percentage off the entire order (up to a maximum). See the 30 Percent Off First Order Reward Example in Menu Designer Help. Or, the discount may be equivalent to a percentage of what the customer has spent so far in the program. For example, set up coupons that give a customer $5 in "loyalty dollars" after they accumulate 500 points. See the $5 Dollar Discount Reward Example coupon in the Menu Designer Help topic.
2.Give away free menu items - either as an enrollment bonus when customers join your program, or after they accumulate a specified number of points. For example, give a free appetizer for 2000 points redeemed, and to encourage enrollment, award those points as a sign-up bonus. You can also use free items strategically to encourage customers to try items they may not usually purchase, such as appetizers or desserts. If they enjoy the item, they will be more likely to order it in the future. See the Free Appetizer Reward coupon in Menu Designer Help. This option also avoids reducing the perceived value of your products, which can happen if a discount is given.
3.If customers buy "x" items, give them one free - encourage return trips by offering this reward for popular items. To set this up, you will need to identify the items that qualify in your menu using either tags, PLUs, or sizes (for Paytronix loyalty) or the Loyalty Product check box (for SpeedLine Loyalty). See the Buy 10 Get 1 Free Reward Example coupon in Menu Designer Help for more information.
4.Give away free merchandise with a certain number of points accumulated. Branded t-shirts, hats, or coffee mugs have the side benefit of turning customers into walking advertisements. Or, if you offer a collectable--for example a free piece of distinctive dinnerware--customers are motivated to accumulate points so they can complete their collections.
5.Give "members-only" perks like special offers that are sent only to loyalty club participants, or to those who accumulate over a certain point balance. These "soft" benefits cost you little, but they contribute to building customer loyalty. You can create a targeted mailing list by running the Loyalty Point Balances customer report, and choosing the Export (No Format) option to export it to Excel (see Export Reports).
Note If you are using Paytronix loyalty and collecting customer contact information, customers will not be eligible for rewards until they register their cards on the Paytronix website. |
Hint When creating reward coupons in Menu Designer, set them to "auto-discover." That way, when a customer with a 5000-point balance places an order, an auto-discover coupon for a loyalty reward that requires 5000 points pops up automatically. |
