When planning your SpeedLine Loyalty program, you want to reward your loyal customers and encourage return visits, while keeping your bottom line in mind. The point accumulation method and accumulation multiplier you choose when entering loyalty settings can have a great impact on the success of your program. This topic contains some tips for running a SpeedLine loyalty program. For examples of some loyalty rewards, see Loyalty Reward Examples.
Note This topic applies to SpeedLine's single-store loyalty program. If you are using a third-party loyalty provider such as Paytronix loyalty, contact the provider for tips on running a program, and for information on the loyalty program options available. |
Offer an Enrollment Bonus
To encourage participation in your loyalty program, award a "welcome" bonus of loyalty points when a customer joins the program. Make the offer attractive, but take your cost into account in order to protect your margins. If your point accumulation method is ticket value, and your accumulation multiplier is 100 points per dollar, a reasonable enrollment bonus would be 2000 points. This would be equivalent to the points earned after purchasing $20 worth of product.
See Enter Loyalty Settings to set the point accumulation, accumulation multiplier, and initial (bonus) points.
Why Wait?
There's no need to wait until a customer's next (or first) visit to offer membership in your loyalty program. Make the program part of your next marketing campaign. Advertise the benefits of membership, and emphasize how many points members get as an enrollment bonus. Give new members the opportunity to redeem some of those points with their very first order by creating a coupon for a small reward (see the Free Appetizer Reward example in Menu Designer Help).
Offer the "No Card" Option
The SpeedLine Loyalty program can operate without swipe cards, so there is no need for your customers to find more room in their overflowing wallets. Once customers sign up, points accumulate automatically, and the customer's point balance can print at the bottom of the receipt (see Print Loyalty Message on Tickets for how to do this) as well as being displayed on the Customer screen. The no-card option is also great for delivery customers, who are often signed up over the phone.
Reward Tips
•Make the rewards applicable to your store: for casual dine-in or take-out, give a free jar of house sauce or a free t-shirt; for more formal dine-in, provide a bottle of wine, or the best table in the house.
•Make rewards applicable to your customers (you know them best!). Ask yourself "How can I make my customers feel good?"
•Add an element of surprise to your rewards program. Create an auto-discover coupon to surprise customers with an unadvertised free dessert or a free drink after they have spent x dollars at your restaurant.
•See the reward examples in the Loyalty Reward Examples topic.
