If a new area code [The first set of three numbers in a 10-digit telephone number.] is introduced in your area, you will need to change the area codes of existing customer phone numbers.
Caution Changing area codes will affect phone numbers in the customer database, and changes may be very difficult to reverse. Ensure that all fields are filled in correctly, and if in doubt, consult SpeedLine Support. |
1.Go to the Settings> People> Customer Options > Utilities tab.
2.In the Change Area Codes area, enter the old area code in the Existing Area Code field.
3.Enter a prefix [The second set of 3 numbers in a 10-digit phone number.] in the Prefix (Optional) field. Only the area code for numbers with that prefix will be changed.
Important If you do not specify a prefix in the Prefix (Optional) field, all numbers with the existing area code specified will be changed to the new area code. |
4.Enter the new area code in the New Area Code field.
5.Optionally, to assign the new area code to numbers that do not currently have an area code, select Replace Blank Area Codes.
6.Click the Change button.
7.Repeat steps 2 - 6 for each prefix to be assigned the new area code.
8.Repeat steps 2 - 7 for any additional new area codes.
