The units of measure (UOM) used by menu items (An Item is anything that can be ordered from your menu, like a pizza, beverage or promotional merchandise.) and modifiers (A Modifier is a choice that is applied to a menu item, such as a pepperoni topping on a pizza., such as cup, ounce, and pound, are entered in the Units of Measure tab. UOM's that are entered in this tab are used as modifier unit amounts in Item Content nodes
Units of measure must be entered if you want to use Topping Matrixes, Prep Planning, SpeedLine Inventory, or if you want to print unit amounts on make tickets. For more information on using units of measure, see Units of Measure in Store Manager Help.
To Add Units of Measure
1.In the Menu Tree, click the Menu Root , and then click the Units of Measure tab.
2.If you have not selected a unit to use when no other UOM is specified, select one from the "Each" Unit list. Why do I need an "each" unit? An "each" unit is a default unit that will be used if, for example, an unusual topping without a topping matrix is added to a menu item (like shredded carrot on a Hawaiian pizza). If there is no conversion between the "each" unit and the usage unit for the menu item's contents, an error will result when ideal usage is posted. To detect these errors so missing topping matrixes can be added, select a unit with no conversion to your normal topping UOM, for example "unknown" (the "unknown" unit is not in the library - you have to add it). To ignore such errors, select an "each" unit that is the same as your topping UOM (for example, "ounces").
3.Right-click in the Property Editor, and then click Add From Library.
4.Select a unit of measure from the UOM Library window, and then click OK.
5.Repeat steps 2–3 until you have entered all of your units of measure from the library.
6.To add a unit of measure that is not in the library, right-click on the table that now contains the selected measurements, and then select Add.
Note Always try to add a unit of measure from the library first. |
7.Enter a name and a caption for the unit of measure, and then click OK.
8.If you have not selected each as a unit of measure, do so now by using Add From Library. This will give you a generic unit for items that are not measured by weight, volume, or size when they are used, for example, packaging items, items with no size, or merchandise.
9.Click the Save button on the toolbar.
