Distribute a Setting Update Package

Scroll Prev Top Next More

Warning HM

Caution Setting update packages are extremely powerful tools that allow sweeping setting changes at many stores at once. Test update packages thoroughly before sending them to stores.

Do one of the following to distribute a settings update package file to stores:

If you are using Above Store:

a.If distributing a Binary Setting Update Package, open the package, and on the Package menu, click Publish Package. If you haven't yet saved the package file, you will be prompted to save it.

b.If distributing another type of file, such as a Text Setting Update Package or a menu, on the Above Store menu, click Publish File.

c.Select check boxes opposite the stores or groups you would like to receive the package.

d.If you are using SpeedLink to distribute the files and would like to send the file to the store using "urgent" mode, select the Send To Urgent SubFolder check box. This will send the file the next time ScriptLink runs, if it was set up to perform urgent transfers during SpeedLink installation.

e.Click OK, and then OK again. The package will be saved to the package publishing destination for the selected stores. See To Set Up Stores and Store Groups for instructions on how to set the destination.

f.Distribute the update packages from the publish destination folders to your stores, either manually using e-mail attachments, with your standard electronic file transfer process (FTP), on removable media, or automatically using SpeedLink.

Best Practice HM

Hint You can also distribute non-package files to stores using Above Store. See Distribute Files to Other Stores for instructions.
