Tax groups are set up in Store Manager and then applied when pricing items in Menu Designer. Only one tax group can be applied to each menu item, but Tax Groups can contain one or more tax items.
For example, you can have a tax group named "Pop" that contains the tax items "Deposit" (with a value of 5 cents) and "State Tax" (with a value of 6.5%). The Pop tax group would be applied when setting up pricing for items like Coke or Pepsi in Menu Designer. Both taxes in the group would then be charged when Coke or Pepsi was sold. See the Add or Modify Tax Items topic to enter tax items that you can then add to tax groups.
Caution Tax changes should be made only after running day end or before making any sales the next day. |
Note You cannot change the name or jurisdiction of an existing tax group. You must delete the existing group and then add it again (see To Add a Tax Group, above) with a new name or jurisdiction. |
