You can establish an off-site ordering system by using SpeedLine Connectâ„¢. Connect is an add-on module for the SpeedLine POS that enables it to receive and process orders that have been created by external sources, such as:
•Internet Ordering Web sites
•External Call Centers
•In-Store Self-Serve Kiosks
•Remote Drive-Thru Order Centers
•Automated Telephone Order Services.
Hint You can also record the source name for sales reporting of orders that are not integrated with SpeedLine via Connect, but instead are entered into Terminal from tablets or other communications. See Report on non-integrated Order Sources for setup steps. |
SpeedLine Connect normally runs as a Windows service, controlled by the SpeedLine Management Service and SpeedLine Application Service. This allows external orders to be accepted even when Terminal is not running.
If Terminal is started on the SpeedLine Connect station and determines that the service is not running, Terminal will then accept Connect orders directly, but without the service running, orders will be rejected if Terminal is shut down.
Note To ensure reliable, continuous receipt of Connect orders, in the Windows services list, ensure the SpeedLine Application Service and SpeedLine Management Service have a Status of "Started" and a Startup Type of "Automatic." |
Note You can control the number of instances of the Connect service running on each station, to compensate for computers with lower processing power. See Control Connect Service for steps. |
