A Create-Your-Own (CYO) is a Selection Base Item, such as a cheese pizza or plain pasta, that can be customized with modifiers (A Modifier is a choice that is applied to a menu item, such as a pepperoni topping on a pizza. to provide customers with a "build-your-own" menu selection.

If you plan on using portions with your menu items (Anything that can be sold to a customer is considered a menu item. Pizza, drinks, and promotional merchandise are examples of menu items.), we recommend that you use a portioned CYO item and add menu items to it as modifiers, rather than portioning each of your menu items. For example, if you offer a half Hawaiian and half pepperoni pizza, create a CYO pizza that is portioned, and add the Hawaiian and pepperoni pizzas to each half as modifiers.
