If a chain-wide menu is in use, but individual locations would like to supplement this with their own coupon offers, head office can password-protect a menu, but give a restricted editing mode password to individual locations. This will allow managers or owners to add and modify their own location's coupons.
Alternatively, head office can customize offers for different locations in a chain by assigning Store Groups to coupon groups or nodes. See Managing Store Menus for Multiple Locations.
Location-specific coupons created in Restricted Mode are shown in italics in the menu tree.
To Allow Location-Specific Coupons:
1.Open a menu file (usually this will be a multi-location "master" menu).
2.Click the Menu Root.
3.On the General tab, under Full Edit Mode, inspect the Password field.
Important Once a menu is password protected, it cannot be opened in full edit mode without entering the password. |
4.If the menu does not already have a password, enter and confirm one.
5.Under Restricted Mode, enter and confirm the password that will give store locations the ability to open the menu.
Note All locations using the same menu file will have the same restricted mode password (passwords are not location-specific). |
6.Choose the Limited Editing option. This will allow individual locations to copy existing coupons, create new store coupons, and manage store coupons, but not save any other changes to the menu.
Important If copying existing coupons, ensure that the coupon ID is changed on the copy to prevent duplicate ID errors. |
7.Click the Save button on the toolbar.
Note To prevent overwrite when new master menus are pushed from head office, coupons created in Restricted Mode are automatically saved in a _menufilename.slrestricted file in the Speedline/Data/Menus directory. This file should not be renamed or removed. It cannot be opened or viewed independently. |
8.Securely transmit the saved master menu and restricted mode password to locations that will create their own coupon offers.
Hint Coupons created at a store using restricted mode limited editing are not visible to head office, or to other locations. |
