In this step, you will:
•Add a Group node to the Menu Tree for your menu items.
Note You may already have a group for your menu items. If you do, skip to step 2: Add Item Nodes |
In Menu Designer, Group nodes perform two functions: they keep your menu organized by acting like containers for the other nodes, and together with Shortcut nodes , they provide a way to link your menu items together. Each menu item category should be represented by a Group node in the Menu Tree (e.g., Pizza, Subs, Appetizers, Modifiers (A Modifier is a choice that is applied to a menu item, such as a pepperoni topping on a pizza.). When you create new menu item nodes, always create them in their appropriate group. By building your menu in this way, you only need to add one node for each menu item in your restaurant; there is no need to create multiple nodes for the same menu item.
Groups can only "see" the contents of their sub-groups. For Group nodes to "see" the contents of other Group nodes, you must use shortcuts. Shortcuts link your menu items together and allow the system to access information between different groups. Example: (Pepperoni may be a topping that is used for pizzas and subs, but you only need to make one pepperoni node. Give your pizzas and subs access to the pepperoni node by creating shortcuts between each of their respective groups.)
See Add a Shortcut for more information on adding and using shortcuts.
