In order for groups to "see" the contents of other groups, you must use shortcuts. Shortcuts allow an item (Anything that can be sold to a customer is considered a menu item. Pizza, drinks, and promotional merchandise are examples of menu items.) or a group of items to "see" modifiers (A Modifier is a choice that is applied to a menu item, such as a pepperoni topping on a pizza. that are not located in the same group or sub-group. Shortcuts provide the needed link between a group of menu items and related modifiers. For example, to select toppings for a pizza, you need a shortcut from the Pizza group to the Toppings group.

To Add a Shortcut:

1.In the Menu Tree, right-click a group IconGroupNode that requires modifiers from another group, point to Add, and then click Shortcut.

Note HM

Important Shortcut nodes should never be placed under item or modifier nodes IconItemModifierNode as this can have unexpected effects. Always place shortcuts under a group node. IconGroupNode

2.In the Shortcut to field, click the browse button. ButtonBrowse

3.Select the Modifiers, Stock Items, or Inventory Items group node, and then click OK. The new shortcut IconShortCutNode is added to the Menu Tree.

4.Repeat steps 1–3 for all items that require modifiers.

Note HM

Note Shortcuts from a group are not inherited by any sub-groups it contains; individual shortcuts must be added to each subgroup. However, when you add a shortcut that points to the main Modifiers or Stock Items group, modifiers or stock items in any sub-groups those groups contain are available.

Best Practice HM

Hint Although shortcut nodes can technically be restricted to a certain Store Group, this would rarely be necessary or recommended, as it would require duplicating the shortcut node for each Store Group that required access to the linked group node.
