Add an Enforced Item

Scroll Prev Top Next More

1.In the Menu Tree, right-click where you want to add the enforced item node, point to Add, and then click Enforced Item.

2.In the Item Node field, click the Browse button ButtonBrowse, select an item from the list that you want to enforce, and then click OK.

3.Ensure that the Active check box is selected.

4.Select Add Automatically. This will automatically add the item to the order when the order-taker selects it. Clear this checkbox if you want the order-taker to select the item manually from a menu panel instead. This also enables the order-taker to modify the item, if necessary.

Best Practice HM

Hint If an enforced item offers the customer a choice of modifier (for example, a choice of dressing for an enforced salad item), then clear the Add Automatically check box. The order-taker will then be able to add modifiers to the enforced item.

5.(If Add Automatically is cleared) Enter a prompt phrase for the order-taker in the Prompt field. (e.g. "Choose a dressing for  the salad".)

6.(If Add Automatically is cleared) In the Menu Node field, click the Browse button ButtonBrowse, and then select the menu panel that contains the enforced item.

7.In the Quantity area, the Default box specifies the number of enforced items that are automatically selected. If necessary, type or select a new default value in this box.

8.The Min and Max boxes specify the minimum and maximum number of enforced items that can be ordered. If necessary, enter new values in these boxes.

9.In the Size area, the Default list specifies the size that is automatically selected for the enforced item. If necessary, select a new size from the list.

10.The item's sizes are listed below the Default size list. You can control the availability of a size by checking or unchecking a size box. Check a size box to make it available; uncheck a size box to make it unavailable.

Best Practice HM

Hint You may want to control the available sizes of an enforced item if you allow it to be substituted for a different item. The size of the replacement item will need to match the enforced item's available sizes in order for it to be a valid substitution.

The enforced item node IconEnforcedItemNode will appear in your Menu Tree. If needed, you can add enforced modifiers to it. See Add and Edit an Enforced Modifier for information on how to create and use enforced modifiers.
