Caution Multi Price Methods are an advanced Menu Designer feature that may have been set up by the SpeedLine Trainer when your system was installed. Changes to Multi Price Methods cannot be easily undone and could result in your menu functioning incorrectly. |
The following Multi Price Method examples are created in the Multi Price Methods tab and are based on an order for:
•One large Hawaiian pizza.
•Three small one topping pizzas.
•One large deluxe pizza.
The first example is for a restaurant that offers a "2-for-1" pizza deal on any type of pizza ordered in the same size. 1.Select the Grouping Method First, the restaurant will separate the 2-for-1 items (Anything that can be sold to a customer is considered a menu item. Pizza, drinks, and promotional merchandise are examples of menu items.) from the rest of the items on the order. This is done by selecting a Grouping Method. All of the pizzas with a Pricing Category of "2-for-1" will need to be included in this special pricing. The 2-for-1 pricing scheme only applies to the Item Category "Pizzas," and only to pizzas of the same size. The restaurant's Grouping Method is: •Price Category (2-for-1) •Item Category (Pizza) •Size After grouping, the order will look like this: •One large Hawaiian pizza. •One large deluxe pizza. •Three small Create-your-own (CYO) + 1 topping pizzas. 2.Select the Sort Method Next, the restaurant will need to sort the grouped items. For this example, "Price" is selected so that the items will be sorted from the highest to lowest price. After sorting, the order will look like this: •One large deluxe pizza. •One large Hawaiian pizza. •Three small CYO + 1 topping pizzas. 3.Select the Match Method Once the items are grouped and sorted into the desired order, the items are matched for special pricing. The "Top-Down" option matches the highest-priced item with the second-highest-priced item in the list order (deluxe & Hawaiian pizzas) (CYO & CYO) (CYO). The "High-Low" option matches the highest priced item with the lowest priced item in the list (deluxe & CYO) (Hawaiian & CYO) (CYO). If there are an odd number of items for matching, the remaining items will be unmatched. More than one Multi Price Method would be required in this case. 4.Select the Calc Price Option Once the items are matched, the restaurant must decide how the prices should be calculated on the matched items. In this example, "Highest Match Price" is selected in the Calc Price Options list, as it will price the entire match (deluxe & Hawaiian) at the Quantity Level 1 price in the Multi Price Node of the highest-priced pizza. The second pizza (Hawaiian) is not priced, as it is assumed to be included in the price of the first item in the match. (In 2-for-1 pricing, generally the second quantity level price is $0.) Alternatively, the restaurant could select the "Each Match Price" option. In that case, the deluxe pizza would be priced at its own Quantity Level 1 price, and the Hawaiian would be priced at its own Quantity Level 2 price. |
The second example is for a restaurant that offers the first pizza at regular price and any additional pizzas at a flat price ($7), as long as it is the same type of pizza. 1.Select the Grouping Method First, separate the pizzas from the rest of the items on the order. The Grouping method and Sorting Method would be the same for this example as in the "2-for-1" example, except that their price nodes would have the Pricing Category of "First at regular price, 2-3 for $7." After grouping, the order will look like this: •One large Hawaiian pizza. •One large deluxe pizza. •Three small CYO + 1-topping pizzas. 2.Select the Sort Method Next, the restaurant will need to sort the grouped items. For this example, "Price" is selected so that the items will be sorted from the highest to lowest price. After sorting, the order will look like this: •One large deluxe pizza. •One large Hawaiian pizza. •Three small CYO + 1-topping pizzas. 3.Select the Match Method Once the items are grouped and sorted, the restaurant will decide how to match items for special pricing. Since this is a "First-Remaining" pricing scheme, "First-Remaining" is what the restaurant will select from the Match Method list (deluxe) (Hawaiian & CYO & CYO & CYO). 4.Select the Calc Price Option Once the items are matched, the restaurant must decide how the prices should be calculated on the matched items. Since Each Highest Match Price works best with this First-Remaining scheme, "Each Highest Match Price" is what the restaurant selects from the Calc Price Options list. Because the deluxe pizza is the highest priced item, all other special pricing is set by its Multi Price node. This means that the deluxe pizza will be priced at its own Qty level 1 price, and the remainder of the items (Hawaiian and CYO pizzas) will be priced by the Qty level 2 price in the deluxe pizza’s Multi Price node. |
