Use Generic Stock Item to Track Ideal Usage of Flavored Items

Scroll Prev Top Next More

In some cases, you may have selections in your menu, like self-serve fountain pop, that have flavors that are purchased as separate stock items (for example, cola syrup or root beer syrup for the pop), but sold simply as "large pop" or "chips."

If you use SpeedLine Inventory, to make it possible to track ideal usage of these "flavored" menu items, a generic stock item is used to track total ideal usage and cost for the category that contains the individual stock item flavors. For example, a generic "pop syrup" item can be added to track the usage of all flavors of syrup in the "fountain drinks" category. The generic item is first added in Store Manager, and then added to the menu and included in the item contents of each flavor of the menu item.
