Create a Foreign Currency Tender Button

Use this procedure to create a Terminal button (for example, a "CDN $" button for Canadian dollars) that you can use to accept foreign currency.

1.Go to the Settings> Money> Tender Types icon_tenderTypes> General tab.

2.Below the Tender Type list, click Add. bAddText

3.In the Name field, enter a name for the new tender type, and click OK.

4.In the Button Caption field, type the name of the tender type as you want it to appear on a Terminal button (for example "CDN $").

5.Select the general options for this tender type. For a cash tender type, Give Change, Open Drawer, Record in Deposit, and Allow edit in Bank Count would normally be selected. All options are explained in the table in the Change Tender Types topic.

6.To require a manager override before employees can accept the new tender type, select the Restricted Tender check box.

7.Click the Exchange tab.

8.In the Exchange Rate field, enter the value of the foreign currency when converted to local currency. For example, if the foreign currency is Canadian dollars, the local currency is US dollars, and the exchange rate is 1 CAD = 0.9575 USD, enter 0.9575.

9.To set how change is shown, do one of the following:

Select Base Currency to show change to be given in your local currency, and then from the Change Tender Type list, select the tender type of the change to be given (usually Cash).

-or-

Select Current Currency to show change to be given in the foreign currency, if you keep foreign currency on hand.

9.On the Edit menu, click Save Changes.

10.Refresh Terminal.When you enter an order, the foreign currency tender type button will be available in the Tender window, and the amount owing in the foreign currency will be displayed under the button caption.
