You can check that telephone numbers entered in an employee's profile conform to the typical North American standard (10 digits).
1.Go to the Settings> People> Employee Options
> General tab.
2.In the Telephone Format list, select North American to format the first 10 digits entered as a 3-digit area code in parentheses, followed by a three-digit prefix, a hyphen, and a 4-digit number. For example: (336) 625-4789.
|
Note A leading "1" (the North American country code) is not included in the first 10 digits, and will be removed during formatting. |
|
Hint Numbers entered after the first 10 digits are considered an extension. Extensions can be up to10 digits in length. |
3.On the Edit menu, click Save Changes. The next time a phone number is entered, or an employee profile with an existing number is opened, the number will be formatted to the North American standard, or a message will indicate that the characters entered are not a valid phone number.
