Delete Old Transaction Data

Scroll Prev Top Next More

A copy of all sales and transaction data is kept in the SpeedLine database. When you run Store Manager reports containing sales or transaction data, the data is drawn from this copy (the original sales and transaction data is stored in the Day Files).

Normally, only one or two years of transaction data is required for reports, so you may want to delete old data to free up space on your computer. Follow the procedure below.

Warning HM

Caution Records removed from the database cannot be restored unless you have a backup. SpeedLine recommends that you back up your database before clearing any old data. For instructions on how to create a backup, see  the "Safeguarding Your Data" PDF, available in the Document Viewer.

To Delete Old Sales and Transaction Data

1.Go to the Settings> System> System Options icon_systemOptions> Utilities tab.

2.Click the arrow. bDropdown beside the Older Than field, and choose a date from the calendar. All sales and transaction report data from before this date will be deleted. (The original sales and transaction data in the DayFiles will not be removed.)

Warning HM

Caution The cleared report data can only be recovered with the help of SpeedLine Support. Be sure you do not want to include data from this time period in any reports you will run in the future.

3.Click the Clear button.

4.Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
